History of Grande Hotel Thermas
Located in the heart of the renowned thermal spa town of São Pedro do Sul, Grande Hotel Thermas is a place where history, tradition and hospitality have come together for more than a century.
Founded in 1919, originally as a modest two-star hotel with just 35 rooms, the property has grown and evolved over the decades, becoming a landmark in the region’s thermal hospitality sector.
Throughout its history, the hotel has undergone several phases of growth and transformation. One of the most significant was its expansion and the adoption of the name Grande Hotel Lisboa, which it retained for over 30 years, strengthening its identity and reputation among generations of guests.
Over the years, a commitment to innovation and the desire to offer increasingly complete experiences inspired new stages of modernisation. Two major renovations breathed new life into the building, preserving its historical character while introducing contemporary spaces designed for the comfort and wellbeing of its guests.
Among the most significant developments was the creation of the SPA, marking a new chapter in the hotel’s history and contributing to its rebirth under the name Grande Hotel Thermas.
This transformation extended across different areas of the hotel, combining the tradition of hospitality with a diverse offering of accommodation, gastronomy, leisure and wellness experiences.
As a tribute to the hotel’s heritage and identity, seven Master Suites were created on the top floor, each with a special meaning inspired by its history and the generations that have contributed to building its legacy.
